East is East
Searching for the perfect gym bag is what initially inspired Chris Liu and Tibor Matyas to start their label. Three years after launching Chris & Tibor, the duo have gained quite a following for their casual yet cutting-edge accessories, tightly linked to east London’s creative hub. “We live in east London, we design in east London and we produce in east London” explain the designers. “We name all our bags after streets, areas or buildings in east London and the City.”
Having devoted their spring/summer collection to Angel and Islington, Chris & Tibor are now stocked at Harvey Nichols in Hong Kong and United Arrows in Japan. And, despite London influences, recent collaborations with designers Juun J, Romain Kremer (pictured) and Veronique Branquinho suggest that their scope is fast-reaching far beyond EC1. Kasia Bobula
