Back in September (when we could still feel our toes) the Chris&Tibor team embarked upon a trip to Shanghai and Hangzhou to take part in the British Council’s Smart Talks and exhibition. Smart Talk is the British Council’s programme of cultural events for Shanghai Expo, featuring innovative and inspiring speakers from the UK, introduce British innovations to Asia, allowing the audience a unique insight into the UK education, life and culture.
Always happy to spend time in the East we were glad to receive the invitation, following in the likes of Sir Richard Branson (Virgin Airways), Jimmy Choo (Jimmy Choo shoes) and Sir David Tang (Shanghai Tang).
Check out the photos here, we were exhibiting a selection of bags from the Walter Van Beirendonck collaboration project and Chris Liu womenswear. Brilliant event from the British Council and most importantly: hurrah for British Fashion!
On January 22nd 2010, Walter Van Beirendonck + Chris&Tibor’s first collaboration hit the runway in Paris. A quirky explosion of shapes and colours, the show enticed an audience of Press and celebrities, including Kanye West and sweetheart of the time Amber Rose. The bags featured were a range of belt bags spelling out words from Walter’s ‘read my skin’ theme and striking rocket backpacks. Watch the video now!
(EB)”
Metro is the world’s largest free newspaper and the fourth biggest newspaper in the UK. Bel Jacobs style editor features the Autumn Winter collection of Walter Van Beirendonck+Chris&Tibor.
“Feeling bored of ordinary backpacks? Knock yourself out with those larger-than-life creations by mad Belgian Walter Van Beirendonck for accessories label CHRIS&TIBOR. Can’t decide between the Rocket backpack, the Fly beltbag and the Fire beltbag? We can’t help; we want all three. Next spring, things jump even further leftfield with huge tiger and crocodile-shaped packs you wear wrapped around your shoulders. All that without mentioning the robot-shaped pack. Stick your name on the waiting list.”
